"How do Nations Become Connected?"
|

|
Students were tasked with representing a country. They were given a pile of resources (chosen randomly) with a certain number of units and were asked to trade those resources with other countries. The goal was for them to earn as many points as they could by the final round. I threw in "world" events (example = oil becoming scarce, therefore driving up the price) and students had to respond and trade with these events happening along the way.

Country Exports:
Gold = 5 points per unit Oil = 4 points per unit Lumber = 3 points per unit Electronics = 2 points per unit Coffee = 1 point per unit |
TASK:
You are tasked with researching an object/item/gadget/article of clothing from start to finish through manufacturing to sale. You will need to choose something you are interested in (examples - Starbucks coffee, Nike shoes, a skateboard, etc.). Once you have chosen your object, you will research where is originates (starts). Think about if it needs a natural resource (examples - coffee beans, wood, water, etc). Then, you will look into where it goes and what additions are made until it becomes the final product. You will show your research on a map of the world and written descriptions that go with the map. Import = bring goods into a country from another country to sell
Export = send goods to another country for sale |
NEED TO SUBMIT:
- Map of the world with points of resource collection, manufacturing, trade, or sale labeled. - Written description of what has happened at each point with your object. - Decide where your product is an "import" and where it is an "export" throughout its route. |
