What was the purpose of the pyramids?
• Tombs for rulers • To guard the bodies of dead pharaohs and their treasures • Religious monuments • Sides represented rays of the sun god. Egyptians believed that the dead pharaoh could climb these rays to heaven There are hundreds of pyramids all over Egypt |
What did they look like?
• All were created with rough limestone insides and smooth white granite outsides which made them reflect the sunlight • Some archaeologists even think the tip was painted a gold colour |
